# System Coverage Guide

### Summary

Learn the full scope of Docket Alarm’s database, including Federal courts, over 40 State court systems, Federal Agencies (IP, Tax, Trade), and International tribunals.

### Why This is Important

Before starting your research, it is essential to know if the specific jurisdiction you are interested in is covered. Docket Alarm aggregates data from hundreds of disparate court systems into a single, searchable interface, but coverage depth can vary between specific state venues.

### How to View Live Coverage

The most up-to-date list of covered courts is always available directly within the application.

**Step 1:** Log in to the Docket Alarm Dashboard. **Step 2:** Click the **All Courts** button located to the left of the search bar. This opens the Jurisdiction Selector. **Step 3:** For a detailed breakdown, click the **Coverage Information** link at the bottom of the menu, or navigate directly to [`docketalarm.com/coverage`](https://www.docketalarm.com/coverage).

### 1. Federal Courts

Docket Alarm provides comprehensive access to the federal judiciary via our integration with PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records).

* **District Courts:** Full coverage of all U.S. District Courts.
* **Appellate Courts:** U.S. Courts of Appeals (Circuit Courts).
* **Bankruptcy Courts:** Full coverage of bankruptcy filings.

### 2. State Courts

We currently cover **40 states** and are continuously expanding.

* **Scope:** This includes trial-level courts (Superior, Circuit, District) and appellate courts.
* **Venues:** Coverage often includes specific venues for probate, real estate, and chancery courts (e.g., Delaware Chancery).

**Note on Data Fields:** State court data varies by jurisdiction. Some counties provide full case information and documents, while others may only provide limited case information (parties, dates, and docket report) based on what the local court makes digitally available.

### 3. Intellectual Property & Federal Agencies

Docket Alarm offers specialized, deep coverage for IP and administrative law.

* **PTAB & TTAB:** Full coverage of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
* **ITC:** International Trade Commission.
* **Prosecution History:** Patent and Trademark prosecution history (PAIR, TSDR).
* **Other Agencies:** NLRB (National Labor Relations Board), FTC (Federal Trade Commission), FERC, and the U.S. Tax Court.

### 4. International Coverage

We have recently expanded to include international jurisdictions to support global litigation tracking.

* **United Kingdom:** Coverage of UK-based courts.
* *(Check the live coverage page for the most recent international additions).*

### Pro Tip: Using the Coverage Map

On the coverage page ([`docketalarm.com/coverage`](https://www.docketalarm.com/coverage)), you can drill down into specific counties. If you are unsure if a specific county in Texas or California is covered, click the state on the map to see a list of every individual court and the specific data fields (e.g., "Documents," "Dockets," "Parties") available for that venue.
