# How to Search and Analyze Dockets in vLex Library

### Summary

Find and monitor ongoing cases by searching **Dockets** in vLex Library. You can search for dockets by case name or number and follow them to receive automatic notifications of new filings and court events.

### Why This is Important

Dockets provide a real-time view into active litigation. Monitoring dockets is essential for staying informed about ongoing cases, tracking competitor activity, and receiving timely updates on court filings and orders without manual effort.

### How to Find Dockets

You can find dockets in several ways:

1. **Smart Searchbar:** Type the name of a case or docket number and look for docket-specific suggestions.
2. **Advanced Search:** Select **Dockets** as the **Content** type to use specific search fields.
3. **Browse Tool:** Select **Browse**, then the **Dockets** filter, and choose the court you wish to explore.

### How to Use a Docket

Once you open a docket, you will see a chronological listing of all case events, including:

* Papers filed by the parties
* Orders and judgments issued by the court
* In-court events like appearances and verdicts
* Key information like counsel for the plaintiff and defendant

**Follow Dockets for Automatic Updates:** To be notified of any changes to a case, simply click the **Follow** toggle at the top of the docket page. You will automatically receive notifications in your Newsfeed when new documents are filed.

* **Filter Within a Docket:** For very active dockets with hundreds of entries, use the **Search in results** field on the left to find specific filings or orders by keyword.
