Sign in options

The standard way to access the service is to go to the website, select Sign In, and enter your username and password.

There are a number of sign in options that mean that you do not have to have or enter a username and password every time, which are listed here:

OpenAthens

Select OpenAthens on the Sign in page to enter vLex. Your organisation will provide you with a username and a password if you are OpenAthens users.

Via your institution

Also known as Shibboleth, this is a common authentication system used by universities. To sign in, go to www.vLex.com and select Sign In, then choose Your institution.

Microsoft Active Directory

You can use your Microsoft account to sign in to vLex by clicking Active Directory. You will be taken to the Microsoft login page, or if you are already logged in, you will be taken straight to vLex.

IP recognition

If you prefer to sign in with a username and password, you can sign out of the IP authenticated account and then sign back in using your own personal login details. If you do not have your own login details, speak to your account administrator to create them.

EZProxy or WAM Proxy

When you usually sign in automatically at work or university, but you are off-campus or out of the office, you can use a link, provided by your organisation, to log in.

Use the search field on the new page to find your institution, you can search by name or email. For example, type University of Wirksworth or @wirksworth.ac.uk. This will take you to your university’s login page, where you can log in and be taken to vLex.

Social logins: Google, Facebook, or Twitter

On the sign in page, you will see social media icons that will let you sign in via these accounts. Simply click your preferred service and authorise vLex.
